Molefhe won a foul on the edge of the box, but his team failed to profit.

The Maun side’s shot stopper, Karabo Ramatlapeng put on a man of the match display. He denied Molefhe in the 28th minute as Magosi pressed Sankoyo into their own half. Sankoyo proved solid with Gorata Keorapetse alongside captain Whaza Seleka unyielding.

The teams went into the breather deadlocked, but tried to up the tempo in the second half. Sankoyo’s Gadimang Tiiso made a substitution with Botshelo Mafoko making way for Gothata Zamunezi in the 61st minute. Ramatlapeng continued to star for his side with several saves.

Chiefs coach, Mike Sithole sent on Lemponye Tshireletso and calling out Lesego Molemogi.

The referee had to halt the game after players were involved in an ugly spat, which almost resulted in fist fight following a scuffle over a corner kick.

Tendai Nyamusi gave Chiefs the lead and what looked like the winner in the 78th minute. But Sankoyo had other ideas and equalised with seven minutes left through Gaongalelwe Dipateletso.

Sankoyo coach, Tiiso said their intention was to contain Chiefs and avoid running a lot, as fatigue was an influence in the game.

“Our team was not fully prepared. We have many issues to solve. I think my boys played very well. We wanted to contain Chiefs and keep the ball behind them so that we use the pace of our strikers,” Tiiso explained.

Sithole said they are still struggling upfront since they depend on one striker. The mentor said they shouldn’t have conceded. “We didn’t play well. The way we played is not how we played before the festive break. We are struggling upfront; we are creating chances in the middle but we cannot score. Even at the back we are struggling. We shouldn’t have conceded, but we are working on those departments,” Sithole said.
