Meet the biggest film of 2015

This film is a 2015 American sci-fi film and it is the seventh instalment in the main Star Wars film series.

This blockbuster is a retcon edition (thus it has new twists tailored to alter the original storyline events for the continuity of the franchise) and is the first chapter of the Star Wars sequel trilogy announced in 2012.

What transpires in this one is that, Thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order.

When a defector named Finn crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights. Harrison Ford continues the onslaught fighting against the dark side which dates as far back as his first role in the initial 1977 Star Wars, he plays a role in guiding new characters like Daisy Ridley (Rey) with wisdom.

Action

There is nothing cooler than watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens because the film is creatively unique and makes one not to blink at all. The film is set in a futuristic dystopian era where war has torn apart civilisation as most people are scavengers so everything is fought over. And that’s what movie enthusiasts relish watching and it brings to mind films like Mad Max Fury Road.

There is no dull moment in this film because it is so action-packed- from the start to finish- and maintain a good level of energy. From the beginning we fight over a small droid (computerised robot messenger) that’s carrying vital information before battle shifts to power as the discovery a new Jedi rattles fear into the dark side legion of Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver.

This I tell you was the very toast delight of the film. Ren could easily manipulate anyone including us the audience striking into them and using force to retrieve information however resourceful Rey (Daisy Ridley) is one not to dare mess with and this ignites a great deal fireworks of action between good and evil.

I totally enjoyed the stand off between these saints and sinners. Apart from those two playing Tom and Jerry, the film is also super funny due to funny looking creatures which I have to say well done to the film costuming department as they did a relatively fantastic job. Picture this scenario : a cockroach or a ground worm looking creature brought to human form even way bigger than a normal human being yet also trading as a smuggler. This film is very packed with such funny moments! Such moments are reminiscent of those from Guardians of the Galaxy. Lastly John Boyega (Finn) also does steal the show a bit with some moments of humour often chipping in with low self-esteem jokes as he often looks weaker than his lady colleague Rey. Mind you, even the element of surprise was super enthralling; one of the other cool moments is how they eat in the future. For instance, Yours Truly and the audience were pretty much amazed to see director J.J Abrams’s creativity as there is this scene were Rey adds powder to slimy-looking liquid which instantly becomes bread.

How cool is that movie gurus? Apart from that, the suspense is also delightful as during the movie there is too much talk about Luke Skywalker and the Jeddai army he shall form as well as the map the droid is being hunted for.

That gives one that good niggling feeling of curiosity when watching and as to how all that  pieces up together is such a marvel you won’t blink watching this film. Star Wars is also made fresh by the level of technology incorporated in the film. So to say the special effects are way exhilarating. I was so amazed to see Rey, loading junk into a futuristic motorbike that’s floating mid-air and literally flies.

As if that’s not enough, the Computer Generated Imager did actually boost Stars Wars because the creature characters in the film, most notably the force of darkness called supreme leader played by Andy Serkis was a giant intimidating hologram which brought a breeze of fear every time it appeared with new instructions of evil.

The other defining aspect about Star Wars is that it has a sharp cinematography. The movie is in 3D and looks adventurously stunning because the action takes you into space with battleships, then brings you back to the dystopian deserts then takes you again to the green forest adjudged as different planets making it very colourful to watch. The film takes through themes of power, good, evil, greed, terror, liberation, family struggles and so forth as our characters battle hard to deal with these issues.
