Among players who have deserted are defender Kebaabetswe Kediseng and Mpho Ramaruana, strikers, Pusoloso Samson and Doctor Radipampiri as well as midfielder, Edwin Tshimologo.

“We had thought of releasing three of our players deemed surplus to requirements, but now we are reluctant after the latest development.

News reaching the team is that some of these players are seen training with other teams trying their luck there,” said Kootswele. Meanwhile, Kootswele said some players from the lower leagues are interested in joining the team but the challenge is that they cannot match the standard in the Premiership. He said time was not on their side to groom the players as their focus now is to save the team from relegation. Green Lovers have promoted one of their Under 17 players to the senior team.

“We have promoted Luthando Gamodimo from our development team and signed a couple of players, some of whom are our former players who were on loan,” Kootswele said.

The coach decried the movement of players to cash-rich clubs, which leaves his team weakened.

“We can’t meet these clubs’ standard hence we have no choice, but to release such players to the teams.

The issue of lack of sponsorship is hitting us hard, but we have since sent a delegation to Gaborone to look for a sponsor,” Kootswele said.

He added that many companies are still reluctant to sponsor them as they are new in the elite league.

“We are new in the league so companies do not trust us, they think that if it happens that we relegate, we will dissolve like what has happened with other teams before. But we are hopeful that we shall find something.”

He said their focus for now is their Saturday assignment against BR Highlanders at the Serowe Sports Complex and urged the boys to persevere and work hard.
