BDF XI take aim at limping Nico

Majombolo will wish their last game’s misfortunes remain in the past year after their dismal 5-0 loss to table toppers, Township Rollers. Meanwhile, the mining town’s team camp is financially unsettled and their mentor Wesley Mondo has deserted the team.
Lately, Majombolo’s performance which seemed to peak mid-first round, has dropped in their last five games, scrapping a mere five points out of a possible 15.
Nonetheless, Majombolo remain a tricky customer in Selebi-Phikwe. Out of their nine home games this season they have lost once, drew four and won four scoring 14 goals and conceding five. Nico are eighth with 23 points from 17 games.
Nico’s interim coach, Duncan Tshegofatso said the team is in good shape. “Our players are back, all positions are covered. We have checked fitness, conditioned players and we also had time to work on the techniques and tactics of the coming game.”
“The team is motivated and the boys are showing great appetite and competition is high. We don’t have new signings yet. Talks are in progress, but surely we will have some new faces very soon,” Tshegofatso said.
Their opponents, BDF X1, are in fourth position with 30 points from 17 games. Similarly, Matebele have underperformed in their last five games collecting four points from possible 15.
However, this season they boast of a remarkable away record; losing three and winning five of their eight games on the road.
The head-to-head statistics tips the scale in favour of BDF XI. The duo has met eleven times since 2010, with BDF XI winning five times while Nico won three. In their five visits to the mining town, BDF XI have won twice and lost once.
BDF X1 coach, Beston Chambesi will be without former star player, Kabelo Seakanyeng, but said he expects to field a new defender in the encounter.
“Our preparations have gone well. The boys have been remarkable in training and they all want to have a go,” Chambesi said.
When quizzed about the transfers, he responded: “I have got a new defender, Thabiso Molemi from Miscellaneous. He has impressed in training and he slots well in our back four and he will have a chance against Nico.
We have lost a crucial player Kabelo (Seakanyeng), a great talent in the right wing but we are glad Mongala (Phenyo) is back fully fit and he will be able to provide cover in that position.”
