Hamptons Jazz Festival returns to Duma FM grounds

The event organisers confirmed on Friday that they have decided to move the festival back to Duma FM Grounds because of a number of factors.

Speaking to Showtime, Debbie Smith of The Hamptons said: “We have decided to move back to the home of the Hamptons because of the logistical challenges we were experiencing with Gaborone Club”. She also said the fans better known as ‘Hamptonettes’ were not happy with the venue change to Gaborone Club.

“The Hamptonettes requested us to change the venue back to Duma FM Grounds and we listened to their pleas and other issues like parking and limiting regulations we had with Gaborone Club,” she explained.

This year the festival features some of Africa’s jazz heavyweights. They include South Africans; Caiphus Semenya,  Letta Mbuli, Stimela, Vusi Mahlasela, The Soil, Nathi and Vusi Nova on the lineup. Zimbabwean legend guitarist, Oliver Mtukudzi is also on the list.

Botswana artists on the stellar lineup include Sereetsi & The Natives, Women of Jazz, Nono Siile, Trinity Mpho and Sharon Sibonge.
