“Yes, it is true that I have resigned. As of now I think it is just safe to say the decision was personal, nothing else,” Mafutlhe told Mmegi Sport yesterday.

The former TV pundit further said he does not intend taking up any job at the moment.

“As of now I will just be a GU supporter, I am not thinking of taking up any job. I would like to wish the club well in their future endeavours,” he said.

Mafutlhe might have been frustrated out of his position as it is reported he was not informed of some of the executive committee decisions.

Meanwhile, Moyagoleele is said to be chasing former Tanzanian national team coach, Martin Ignatius.

The well-travelled Dutch tactician was relieved off his duties on June last year. He drew three of his 13 games in charge and losing 10.

He had an eight-month stint in South Africa as head coach of Cape Town Santos.

He is expected to be announced as GU head coach in the next week, becoming the club’s third coach this season.

The club has been linked with a number of players who include Zebras and BDF XI winger Kabelo Seakanyeng, the league’s top goal scorer, Moathodi Ralesotla, Motlakase Power Dynamos captain Botshelo Lorato and Miscellaneous left back, Keolopile Molemi.  Kabo Rasuping and Mandla Mgadla have been released. GU are seventh on the log with 26 points.  They have managed to score 17 goals while conceding 15.

The club is enduring one of its worst seasons in recent years as they were also knocked out of the Mascom Top 8 by BDF XI in the quarterfinals. GU have a tough assignment when the league resumes as they play second-placed Orapa United.
