BFA writes to FIFA over transfer window

Orapa and Galaxy are preparing for CAF club assignments, but are unable to sign players as the local transfer window is only due to open in December.
Galaxy would compete in the CAF Champions League while Orapa United play in the Confederations Cup.
BFA chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo said they had taken note of the situation of the two clubs and have asked FIFA for direction.
“Our transfer window is still set for December to February, but we have enquired with FIFA if there could be a special dispensation for the clubs and we are yet to hear from FIFA,” he said.
Galaxy spokesperson Tankiso Morake said they have released three players and had brought in only one. He said they were set to find two more players.
Thato Kebue, Kutlwelo Mpolokang and Karabo Phiri had left Galaxy at the end of the season. The club has brought back their goalkeeper Ezekiel Morake from his brief stint with South Africa’s TS Galaxy. Morake said although they had just resumed the preparations they were still waiting for the new coach to join the squad.
“We are waiting for the coach and his technical team to assess the squad and inform us if we have the right mix for the CAF competition or not, but we have to find at least two players,” Morake said.
Quizzed on the delayed transfer window, he said it was out of their hands.
“We have no opinion on the decision of the BFA, our responsibility is to abide.” Morake said his club was under pressure to prepare for the gruelling competition in under a month.
Meanwhile, Orapa coach Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote said signing players was not a compelling priority ahead of CAF.
He said for the new season he looks to add two new first-team faces, but sang praises of his squad and believes they could go a long way in the continental competition.
He said he had the right blend of experienced players in Omaatla Kebatho, Allen Ndodole, Gofaone Mabaya, Lesenya Malapela and Thabang Mosige amongst others.
He also mentioned versatile Tapiwa Nyamanjibva as one of his key players in their CAF mission. His worry is the tactical aspect of the game.
“I am not worried about the players. We have the right experience with the right energies. My worry is the intensity that we can only get from match practice. We hope the players will be better physically,” Mpote said.
