Looking to bolster squad: Highlanders are keen to add new members to their team

At the moment no high profile names are making rounds in the rumour mill as clubs still hold their cards close to their chests.  Most of the teams report for training today.

BR Highlanders are chasing their former marksman Emmanuel Thakadu who has found the going tough at Miscellaneous.

“Miscellaneous are looking to offload (Emmanuel) Thakadu and we have contacted them about the player. The transfer is imminent, pending agreement on personal terms with the player,” said Highlanders spokesperson, Jacob Monyeki.

Monyeki said they are also in talks with Orapa United regarding left back, Lesego Matoteng who has also struggled to break into the Ostriches first team.  They are also looking to rope in former Extension Gunners and current Mochudi Buffaloes Central Defender, George Mponiki and three other youngsters from lower divisions.

Miscellaneous are also another side who have shown activity in the just opened transfer window.  The Serowe based side mentor, Russia Chaba said they intend to bolster their squad.

“We have shown interest in the Sankoyo defensive duo, Moagi Sechele and Refilwe Senyame and a Motlakase midfielder who is also our former player, Botshelo Lorato. We have also received a letter of interest from Gaborone United for our defender, Koolopile Molemi and we are expecting another letter from BDF XI. They also have shown interest in the player.

He said they would look to trim their squad from 31 to 27 mainly for financial reasons.

“We want players that will help us maintain a top eight finish. That’s why we are bringing in ready-made players.  We are still on the look out for more additions.”

Table toppers, Township Rollers are out of the country for their midseason training and will be returning on January 11, 2016.

Club spokesperson, Phempheretlhe Pheto said they are yet to decide on transfers and he also revealed that some teams have shown interest in a number of their players.

“Some teams have shown interest in loaning a good number of our players that is mainly because our players are contracted.  We are not active (in the transfer window) as of now everything will be decided when the team returns from South Africa.  At the moment we are only working on trying to keep, Jerome (Ramatlhakwana), we have consulted with his team (Don Bosco) to increase the loan period,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Premier League office will open next Monday and Chief Executive Officer, Bennett Mamelodi said player registrations will start then.
