The suspect, 34-year-old Gaofenngwe Seitiso of Kanye was to appear for mention yesterday together with his co-accused, Evans Mhiwatiwa, 43, from Zimbabwe and Thuso Tankomane, 28, from Molepolole.

The trio has been on bail, but surprisingly Tankomane appeared in court in handcuffs in what was said to be a different incident of theft committed recently.

Appearing before the regional magistrate court, prosecutor, Neo Kgoti said Seitiso had failed to appear without any reason.

He told court that the accused has never made any attempts to communicate his whereabouts despite knowing about the date for mention. “For those who are here we request that their bail be extended until the next mention,” said the prosecutor.

Another accused, Mayibongwe Moyo from Zimbabwe, was to be remanded in custody  after the court heard that he refused to appear based on the condition  of his ill health.

Moyo is still nursing a leg injury sustained in a shootout with the police that ensued immediately after the robbery.  He was the only suspect to remain in custody. He was denied bail several times after it was established that he had entered the country illegally, a few days before the robbery and that he was using a fake name.

On January 31, 2015, the four accused and two others on the run along with the deceased robbed a cash loan business at the Kanye Central Business District of approximately P80,000.  They are facing five counts including armed robbery, murder, attempted murder and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunitions.  The suspects are out on bail and will appear for mention again on January 11, 2016 while those in custody will go for mention on December 31, 2015 still at the Regional Magistrate Court.
