Following the launch of 4G technology for mobile devices, Orange quickly introduced an affordable 4G enabled smartphone (Orange Roya) to allow different groups of people to access the technology. The Orange Roya currently goes for P1,399.
Reinforcing Orange’s position as the number one network for speed, great value and innovation Orange launched Konnecta, a new fixed internet for home and business. “Konnecta” is a high-speed broadband internet and calling service. It is a plug and play solution that works using a portable modem, which connects to Orange’s 4G network - enabling even more customers to benefit from the 4G revolution. For areas not served by superfast 4G it also connects to Orange 3G and 2G for data.
The new offer provides unlimited data and it offers a solution to meet all their superfast home and small business internet needs.
In an effort to lead Batswana into the digital world, Orange introduced the Orange Kilf, the cheapest smartphone in Africa. The new affordable smartphone was born from a partnership between Orange Group, Mozilla Firefox and Alcatel. The Orange Klif comes at very low price, but still maintains good quality just like other expensive smartphones.
The year 2015 witnessed the exponential growth of Orange Money, making Orange Botswana the leader in mobile money and financial inclusion with a total majority of 65% share of the market.
Orange Money allows customers to deposit and withdraw money from an Orange Money account, transfer money from person to person (both Orange and non-Orange customers) within Botswana, to top up airtime on one’s mobile account, pay for goods and services such as Dstv, buying of prepaid Electricity, payment of Postpaid Bills and insurance premiums as well as payment of salaries and allowances by companies. Orange money has also been able to establish partnerships with Botswana Insurance Company (BIC) on payment of insurance premiums and GNLD for payments of products by their Agents situated all over the country. Recently Orange Money partnered with Tati Land board, on a service to collect lease rentals from landowners.
The partnership, which is expected to increase revenue collections for the Tati Land Board offers customers of Orange and Tati Land Board the convenience of being able to pay for their lease rentals using the Orange Money platform.
Orange Botswana also introduced a mobile application (app) for the Orange Money service. The new Orange Money mobile app (Orange Money app), is an innovative application that allows customers to easily access, manage and carry out Orange Money transactions straight from home screens of their smartphones.
The application is expected to enhance convenience and customer experience for Orange Money users, says Boga Chilinde Masebu, Orange Botswana spokesperson.
