Tiroyamodimo resurfaces at DWNP

A statement from the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism says, it “would like to inform the public and all its stakeholders that as of December 1, 2015, Major General Otisitswe B. Tiroyamodimo is the new Director of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks”.

The DWNP is tasked with the responsibility of conserving and managing the country’s fish and wildlife resources and their habitats in consultation with local, regional and international stakeholders for the benefit of present and future generations.

Tiroyamodimo, who served in the BDF for over 30 years, was sacked from the army in 2012 after he was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the charges, it was alleged that the car he was driving collided with another vehicle near the Sir Seretse Khama Barracks in Mogoditshane in July 2010. He was also charged with failing to provide a breath specimen.

He was then convicted of the charges and slapped with a suspended one-year imprisonment by the Broadhurst Magistrate Court. Tiroyamodimo then approached the High Court, which acquitted him of all the charges.
