The Orange FA Cup would follow the play-offs in January, before the new season kicks-off in February next year.

The BFA national assembly recently voted against a change in the football season calendar. In the proposed calendar, the season was to run from February to November from the usual August to May. On Wednesday, the BFA said, the 2020-2021 football season will start next year just after the completion of the Orange FA Cup.

The FA Cup, which is at the quarterfinals stage, is to start on January 8, 2021 and is expected to end on February 21. The First Division and Regional Playoffs were scheduled for November 28, and set to conclude on December 13 this year. 'The football season will commence immediately after the conclusion of the Orange FA Cup,' the statement reads.

The BFA has, however, said it would monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and the proposed timeline could change. Football was halted in March after the COVID-19 outbreak.
