MC Maswe drops Fatcook/Legwinya/Lebanze

The multi-talented singer and songwriter said that the song was composed by his dancers, Thabo Bogopa and Wame Rapadisa.
“Both of the dancers hail from the Tswapong areas and the single comes as an inspiration from their fondness for bread,” said Maswe.
The singer explained that the single’s lyrics are self-explanatory, as the song indicates that a man does not sleep at night, but rather hustles or spends time in the bars drinking.
He added that Batswana are very controversial and are going to misinterpret the single and completely miss the message behind the song.
He mentioned that the Legwinya track was produced by Oskid Prince Tapfuma who again put together the famous Zwamaronga hit. Additionally, Tapfuma has been his manager for the past years after parting ways with Dr Tawanda who was his producer from his first to third albums.
MC Maswe noted that the single comes from an eight-track album, which contains Tinorovha, Ga Re Le Tshabe, Diane, Ke Batla Motho remix and the instrumental of Legwinya. The versatile artist said that the tracks were recorded under Maswe Investments record label and they will be launching the single during the festive season.
He revealed that the launch will start on December 23 at Malotwane and other villages around the country and ends at his home village of Ramotswa next year.
He stressed out the issue of piracy as his major concern as it damages their profit margins due to the increase of illegal selling of pirated compact discs.
He also blamed some of Batswana indicating that they are the ones who encourage the illegal market to grow through buying of pirated CDs because they are cheap.
He appealed to the minister of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) to revisit the policy of time signature in recreational places that host music festivals. He said that international artists like Kelly Khumalo, Zahara and even Cassper Nyovest who is going to perform on Friday are given a time frame of playing until 6 am while local artists are only allowed to play until 2 am.
MC Maswe, the Francistown district chairperson of the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU), said that night music festivals are part of their careers and as artists they have employed the youths.
He gave an example that for instance he employed five youths, which on its a own is a great initiative.
The energetic singer added that the Francistown City Council (FCC) needs to reconsider their decision of restricting selling and marketing of their music in the malls because the Chinese are selling them at profitable prices.
He added that the by-law to regulate revellers who play music outside an ongoing music festival should be considered because they cause destruction in the place.
MC Maswe disclosed that his biggest achievement was being funded P95,000 by MYSC to host the ‘Wise up Musician Capacity-building’ and performing at the opening ceremony of the Botswana Games.
He said that his other achievement was having his music played at radio stations around Southern African countries and performing in Harare.
He urged upcoming musicians to be respectful and patient as it is the mother of success and they should also be presentable.
