No nonsense: Police are all out to stamp out crime this festive

In an interview with Mmegi, Nlebesi said criminals usually launch more attacks during festive season than at other times of the year. “It is during festive season that many people are attacked and deceived by criminals,” he said. “I urge residents to join hands with police officers in fighting crime. Residents have a responsibility to tighten their security to ensure that they are not exposed to criminals.”

Nlebesi also advised residents against neglecting their properties during the festive season and solely relying on police to respond during incidents. “Police officers on their own cannot afford to fight crimes without the community’s input,” he said.  He advised residents to engage security companies to help secure their homes, while also urging businesspeople to avoid leaving money in their businesses.

“We appeal to the community to ensure that they do not make it easy for criminals to attack their home and shops by displaying things that attract criminals,” he said.

“Also avoid leaving dangerous objects outside houses that tempt and help criminals to easily break in. Security measures are so simple and we have been spreading information on protection against criminals, but people still fail to adhere.”
