GaMmabesi Cultural Festival to bring families together

The main aim of the festival is to bring families and relatives together and help them celebrate Christmas Day together, Godwill Sebina of Evest Investment said.
He said: ”Togetherness GaMmabesi Cultural Fest is a new concept. It is the first time we have family fun day with an afterparty in the same day. It intends to cover all age groups including children, youth and elders”.
Sebina explained that the event would start at 10:00 am in which children and elders will be having fun and enjoying cultural food and music. “The idea of ‘Togetherness’ is to start the event early to push the concept of family fun day so that families, especially children and elders can enjoy. There will be a kiddies’s corner whereby children enjoy playing on jumping castles and swing. Later on, after 6 pm, children will be released and youth will enjoy the afterparty,” he said.
Sebina also revealed that they have invited artists from all over the country so that different cultures and ethnic groups can embrace the event.
He said the line up will include the likes of African Roots, Prince Kaybee, LaTimmy, Guyvos, Kuchi, Team Distant, Chrispin, NT Base, King, Anthem, Ricky Lamar, Phouboy, Unanimous, Tosh, Mahempe, ATI, Gouveia, Groovy Souls, Khenzo, Neelo, Scratch, 4DD, Amanandos, Franky J, Skul, Tex, Pinagare, Laputo and many more. The organisers of the event said they have given Serowe youth who are involved in business some free exhibition stalls at the festival to market themselves.
Other stalls that will be available include ‘Fokotsa Dino’ of Serowe Police who would be educating people about the dangers of excessive drinking. Sekgoma Memorial Hospital will also have the ‘Alcohol and Substance Abuse’ stall whereby they will teach about diseases and dangers of drug abuse.
In a bid to promote Serowe, Khama Rhino Sanctuary will also have a stall whereby they will be teaching about the importance of tourism. He said they wish to make ’Togetherness’ an annual event.
Security is also expected to be tight as there would be security dogs and police officers.
