Kgosi Mosielele to be buried on Saturday

Mosielele is widely remembered by“Ke tshamekile bolo le rraagwe Ian” clip that frequently plays on the national television. A memorial service will be held in his honour on Thursday at the village.

 A royal family spokesperson, Robert Mangope, confirmed Kgosi Mosielele’s death to Mmegi . He also confirmed that the deceased will be buried on Saturday in Manyana.

“Our Kgosikgolo passed on last week Thursday and will be laid to rest this coming Saturday. A memorial service will be held on Thursday. We are currently preparing for the funeral,” he said.

He said that a kgotla meeting was called yesterday (Monday) to formally inform morafe of their chief’s death.

Kgosi Mosielele, son to Abel Mangope was born in 1924. He was installed Bahurutshe paramount chief in 1952. During his time as Kgosikgolo, he was at one point a member of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi. He handed over the throne 52 years later to his son, Kebinatshwene Mosielele, in 2010 due to old age and ill-health. 

Mangope described Kgosi Mosielele as a hero who founded and built Manyana village under difficult conditions. He said Manyana grew and developed into a big village under Mosielele’s leadership.

“We should celebrate his life. He is a hero who built this village to what it is today.

He started and built this village under difficult times. It is now a big village. He has done his part as Kgosikgolo for Bahurutshe in Botswana and South Africa.”

Mangope said Kgosi Mosielele contributed a lot in sports, especially football after playing for Kanye Stone Breakers for a long time. Nine children and two siblings survive him. He is also described as a passionate farmer.
