Kanyi Ko Zhipa music festival thrills Francistown

The title of the show celebrates the fun that abides in the second city and it simply means, “Home is Fun”.
As the show title promised, the line-up and performances lived up to the tagline.
The dance floor opened with an appetising menu as local DJs served mixtures of House, RnB, Hip Hop as starters.
The well-publicised show attracted throngs of spectators from Francistown and surrounding areas.
The line-up included 26 local DJs and six artists, who electrified revellers and ignited the festive mood -- it was visible from the fashion in which the audience grooved the night away.
The stage saw upcoming DJs doing the disc beautifully and able to touch the depth of revellers music appreciation buds.
RB2’s Ikanyeng Ncube, well known as DJ Boza, was the show stealer as his polished offering sent multitudes in some form of trance.
The cream of the night, who hails from Mahalapye, has been in the show business for five years no wonder he gave that very fine performance.
He had the audience at the palm of his hand with his urban flavours, which set the club ablaze and left revellers yearning for more.
Adding more spice to the night were DJs Colastraw, Cue AND Dreazy who enchant the carousers with their well-done mixes. Mqondisi Nyeleti, who goes by stage name Que Rap, put the icing on the cake with his tracks Sengikhathele, We On It and Ngiyakhubula. He literally got revellers curl and twist their bodies in all styles.
Motswako artist C-ru, born Glen Lekula, in collaboration with Pytho could not be left out as they too commanded great tracks such as Knock Hard, Majita, Commerce and Magata.
Adding cherry on top was the great musician MC Maswe, real name Thapelo Maleka, whose stage energy caught with the audience as they reciprocated to his music prowess. He went all out and gave his all to the crowd!
The Zwamaronga hit maker performed his new single, which impressed revellers, who could not resist asking for more. Together with his dance beauties, MC Maswe sent Francistowners into a wild state of enjoyment.
Though other DJs in the line-up failed to follow their performance schedule, the night was one to be remembered until the cops came in to ruin the fun.
When the stage heated up, Central Police Station officers came in on account of loud music.
The crowd and the organisers were disappointed; and they blamed the police officers for running their night.
In an interview with Showtime, event organiser Gregory Sekga said the festival was staged to promote Batswana artists.
He said local artists were struggling to penetrate the industry. As a result, the festival would become an annual event to give exposure to Batswana so that they could enter the regional market.
“We chose this weekend so that we can target the Botswana games, which have attracted a lot of people across the country but in future we will host it annually preferably a week before Christmas,” he said.
