Francistown painted white

The event received publicity through flyers, posters and social media, resulting in traffic snarl-ups as all roads led to the venue.

The “All-White Family Fun Day” concept received massive response from the people of Francistown and surrounding areas leading up to the day which proved to be an early Christmas for them.

Children were also not left out as they were entertained through jumping castles, face painting, five-a-side male football games, slides, egg race and balloon models.

Organisers had set up business stalls, allowing young people to network with established entrepreneurs for possible future mentoring.

At night, the club got heated up a line-up headlined by crowd-pulling South African group, Bingo Congas.

The manager of Bingo Congas, Samuel Mangolo, said that it was his group’s second performance in Francistown and the Francistowners never disappointed them.

“Francistown has become our second home because we feel accepted and the unconditional love the people have for our music is awesome,” he said.

When the group performed the ‘Masabene’track the revellers literally went wild and called for an encore and the group had no problem obliging. The group also enthralled the crowd with other tracks, Bana ba jika, Malome and Zaka ya loma.

Local renowned Disc Jockeys (DJs), the likes of DJ Bunz, Dj Collastraw, DJ Guyvos,  DJ Chabo and DJ Chrispin gave their all at the turntable.

The event organiser, Kabo Modikwa, said the event is under Pro Event Company and its mandate was to bring recreation closer to the Francistowners.

Modikwa said the family fun day mandate was to invest in the entertainment industry in the second city and surrounding areas so that they could fill up the gap in the music industry that exists in the city.

He was also happy that the event gave young entrepreneurs a platform to market their ventures to the showgoers.

“Multitudes that thronged our event  far exceedd our expectations. We had not anticipated the numbers that came. I am very impressed with the Francistowners,” he said.

Modikwa concluded he was happy that everything turned out perfect even though they encountered slight problems.
