Ushering the festive season with Christmas carols

The main acts of the night was Hope Orchestra and Chorus Ensemble, which blew away the audience with their well designed vocals and orchestral skills. The orchestral sound coordinated with the various vocals such as turner, baritone and soprano.

They performed a number traditional Christmas carols such as Joy to the world, Silent night, Go tell it on the mountain, The first Noel and Angels from the realms. The musical ensemble consisted of young people with some as young as 13 years on the violin. The audience cheered and sang along to some of the carols.

In between their performances other groups and individuals such as Franklyn who performed O Holy night and Ontlametse Serapo who brought a new twist to the carols performing the classical song Jonana Jo which was a favorite to the audience that stood up singing and dancing along.

Jazz maestro Lister Boloseng would come on stage while some of the individual artists performed as he added more flavor with his saxophone.  Dr Kopano Mpuang- Allmon was also a marvel to watch as she shined on stage with her beautiful vocal skills that she played around with while performing I bowed on my knees and cried holly. Lister Boloseng closed down the show with celebration that proved to be a favorite to many that joined him in singing. The performances were divided into two sections, which were Christmas eve and Christmas day. The first section celebrated moments before Jesus Christ’s birth and the second one celebrated his birth. “What would Christmas be like without the singing of Christmas carols? Carols hold a special place in the hearts of many people as they remind them of the Christmas story and help them in celebrating the meaning of Christmas in song,” said Keolopa Gabobofane who was coordinating the event.

Proceedings from the event will be used to help underprivileged youth to pay tuition for orchestral music studies. The carols will be aired on Btv on Christmas eve and Christmas.
