Deadlock rekindles Chiefs interest

With Rollers fast getting out of sight, it was left to Orapa United to put brakes on the pacesetters’ juggernaut.

The Ostriches managed to limit Rollers to a 0-0 draw that saw Chiefs slice the advantage at the top to a still intimidating eight points.

Rollers were cruising 10 points ahead of their sworn enemies and five clear of Orapa heading into the weekend’s biggest game at Itekeng. However, the top teams produced a dour, tactical encounter which melted in the sweltering Orapa heat.

Both Madinda Ndlovu and Mark Harrison were content with the shared spoils as the season reached the half way mark.

Chiefs and BDF XI are huffing in third and fourth respectively, but both recorded narrow victories over the weekend.

Magosi edged a battling Jwaneng Galaxy on Friday night, needing a last gasp Jackie Mothatego goal to bag all three points in a 2-1 win. BDF XI also emerged 2-1 winners over Green Lovers to move to 29 points.

Gaborone United halted a losing streak when they emphatically beat Sankoyo Bush Bucks 3-0 away while former leaders, Police XI halted Nico United’s charge with a 1-0 win, which leaves the Cops at position six while Majombolo are two places below with 22 points.

Extension Gunners’ revival gained further impetus as they thumped hobbling Motlakase Power Dynamos 2-0.

The Lobatse side are ninth with 19 points while the survival lights are fast switching off for Chouka who are 15th with just eight points.

Bottom side, FC Satmos continued to sing the blues with a 1-0 reversal against Gilport Lions, which left the Selebi-Phikwe side firmly rooted at the wrong end of the table.
