Mayibongwe Moyo who was escorted by heavily armed security forces appeared together with his fellow countryman, traditional doctor Evans Mhiwatiwa (43) before Extension 2 Magistrate Court.

Their co-accused Gaofenngwe Seitiso (34) of Kanye and Thuso Tankomane (28) from Molepolole were both said to be on sick leave. The two, together with Mhiwatiwa, are on bail. The four accused persons, together with the two Zimbabweans still on the run, and one who died during the robbery incident, are accused of robbing a cash loan business at the Kanye Central Business District (CBD). They are facing five counts including armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunitions.

Moreover, the duo appeared before Magistrate Abigail Masawi where state prosecutor, Sergeant Busang Zibani requested that Moyo be further remanded in custody while bail be extended to Mhiwatiwa and those on sick leave.

Moyo, who is still nursing a leg injury after being shot by the police when a shoot -out ensued immediately after the robbery, is the only remaining suspect still in custody. He was denied bail several times after it was established that he had entered the country illegally few days before the robbery and that he was using fake names.

Meanwhile in an earlier interview, Kanye CID officer, Ranchi Olebile, he confirmed that the long investigations have been completed and that the rest of the suspects will soon be committed to the High Court to stand trial for the murder charge.

“The investigations are now over and all that is left is for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to commit them to the High Court to stand trial for the murder and attempted murder charges,” he said.

Olebile explained that the investigations took longer than expected because the crime was a cross border one that involved a lot of travelling and linking with their Zimbabwean counterparts for more information.

The suspects will mention again on December 17, 2015 at the Regional’s Magistrate Court.
