No way back for Mfolo?

Mfolo was suspended following age-cheating allegations against the Under-17 side, which was sent home from the COSAFA tournament last week. The BFA did not waste time in suspending Mfolo, one of the longest serving CEOs in the association’s recent history.
The mother body has a notorious history of high turnover of CEOs, but Mfolo had clung on. However, his fate appears to have been sealed following the recent suspension.
“There have been efforts to push him out and with this, I do not see a way back,” a source close to developments said.
The BFA suspended Mfolo after the team travelled to South Africa without conducting a crucial Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan. In a statement released at the weekend, BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti said three of the four tests were conducted.
“The BFA was asked by CAF to do four tests, which include X-ray, ECG, MRI and COVID-19 tests. We managed to do only three tests excluding the MRI,” Letshwiti said in the statement. That he was immediately made the fall guy, as the ‘buck stops with him’ indicates that he might have gone through the revolving door for good.
The BFA appointed a three-person team to conduct an investigation into the matter and the report was expected by today (Friday).
Botswana had initially indicated it was challenging COSAFA’s decision to send the team home.
However, without their own MRI tests to compare notes, chances of succeeding appear remote. The BFA has said it will not comment on the matter until investigations are complete. Botswana was sent packing together with Comoros, eSwatini and Zimbabwe.
