The ambitious record label is requesting donations from Batswana to help fund their preparations ahead of the 'beef' against the most decorated hip-hop rivals in SA. In an interview with Showbiz this week, the executive producer of Dylan W Taylor records, Golesedi Taylor, said the 'beef' will be a musical challenge that will elevate Botswana’s music status worldwide.

“We think our record label is the best no wonder we want to 'beef' Nyovest and AKA. We can beat them; it is just that they have better technology to master and mix their songs,” he said.

Taylor indicated that they have been struggling to master their music because local studios don’t have the requisite equipment. “Our music is complex and more creative than most of the local music hence our local technology is insufficient to bring out the best in our music,” he said.

Taylor further said as a way of tackling the 'beef' against the SA giants, they have engaged a music company in America to help bring their music to international standards.

“The money will help us to get access to advanced music technology in other countries and that will enable us to compete against big names in the international market,” he said. Taylor added that the record label will choose two of their rappers and in the end each one will be assigned to take on AKA and Nyovest.

“We will be the first musicians outside SA to 'beef' against the two. Winning the 'beef' will quadruple the effect and we are planning on shooting our videos in Botswana thus marketing and branding Botswana products,” he said.

Taylor was however quick to mention that the local musicians have been sabotaging their efforts. “Making it here involves bootlicking, bribery and nepotism so we want to be different from the rest by prioritising competition,” he said.  Taylor said they couldn’t 'beef' with local rappers because they want to compete on an international level.

The record label was established in January this year and currently has 15 artists signed under them among others Juicy Ma4teezy and Nicole Martinez.
