This is the second time in two years that the two teams meet in a semi-final. Last year, the two finished tied at 126 runs, which forced a super over with Pakistan emerging victorious.

It is difficult to pick a winner in tonight’s match as both teams have had a decent run in the group stages. Botswana finished unbeaten in Group B which had Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Allrounder, Karabo Modise bagged a hat trick against Sri Lanka as Botswana finished with a maximum six points.

On the other hand, Pakistan eliminated the World XI in the group stages with their batsman Faisal Rona Rasheed scoring 70 runs not-out, which has been the highest individual score so far. Pakistan also finished unbeaten with six points and 460 runs.

Botswana captain, Karabo Motlhanka does not want to see this as a revenge match, but acknowledges it would be tough as both teams have talented players.

“We are definitely ready for them, but this will be a tough one,” he said. He said despite leading a youthful team and facing experienced opponents it would not be a disadvantage.

“The experience against a young team can work both ways for both teams,” he said.

The Botswana team has young players such as Rashaad Mosweu and Thabang Nshomane with a few experienced players such as James Moses and former captain, Modise.

Pakistan senior player, Zain Abassi said it is an exciting prospect to face Botswana.

“Our boys are very excited and honoured to get a chance to play against a reputable Botswana side in the semifinal,” he said.

The winner faces Zimbabwe in Friday’s final at the BCA Oval. Zimbabwe outclassed last year’s champions, India in the first semi-final last Friday.
