Ones� future not banked on background � Muzila

Speaking at an awards ceremony organised by the Francistown City Council (FCC) in honour of the students, Muzila said that during her primary school days they used to go to school barefooted but they strived very hard to succeed in their education.

“Your background should not limit you to succeed in your studies. You come from different backgrounds but do not despair but study hard in order to have a bright future. Do away from negative things but concentrate on your education. We want you to become engineers, doctors and other professions that add value to the economy of this country,” said an elated Muzila.

She also urged parents and teachers to work together for the success of the students.

“The burden of educating students should not rest on the shoulders of teachers only. Every stakeholder including the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) members should play their part in educating students,” said Muzila.

The chairperson of the education and health committee Joe Gunda said education is the only tool that the students can use to empower themselves socially and economically.

Gunda urged the students to take their studies seriously and stay away from drugs in order to become responsible citizens in future.

“You should stay away from drugs and engaging in sex at your age in order to sharpen a bright and prosperous future that will be envied by many,” said Gunda.
