Mafolofolo complete double over Kutlwano

The win meant Mafolofolo complete a double over Kutlwano after winning the BMW Capital Motors tournament, and now the Mascom cup. Mafolofolo had an easy match beating their rivals 3-0.
Mafolofolo won the Capital Motors tournament at the same venue in October. The winners walked away with P40,000 cash, while second-placed team pocketed P30,000. The tournament marked the end of the 2015 season. It was clear from the first set that Mafolofolo meant business when they went ahead 1-0 after winning the set 25-14 and a time out was called with Kutlwano trailing 10-5.
Mafolofolo captain, Tsholofelo Retshabile was instrumental as she was at the forefront of her team’s attack. Game Rakgabo and Kelebogile Mahupela were on top of their game blocking all dangerous Kutlwano balls. The second set saw Kutlwano’s blocker, Karabo Molefha pushing hard to pull her side back into the game. Mafolofolo, however, went ahead 2-0. Despite all the changes that Kutlwano made, their opponents were untouchable and went on to seal the game with an easy victory.
Mafolofolo coach, Kabo Ntshinogang said he was a bit concerned about the absence of his blocker coming into the match. He said despite that, his players showed character and won the highly contested match. “We attacked well and that increased our confidence. My players also served well. We just have to go back to work on our centre attack and defence because there were some instances that we got punished in those departments. My players should be in a position to know what to do when the ball comes,” he said. Kutlwano coach, Dopp Popo told Mmegi Sport that the change he made messed up his game plan. He said Mafolofolo’s two outside attackers put his players under pressure hence he decided to make changes, but that did not work well. “I had to take out Sesha Motswiri because she was setting obvious balls and we got punished. I always urge my players to believe in themselves because at times like today, they got derailed,” said Popo.
Meanwhile, in the men’s top eight final, Kutlwano beat BDF VI 2-1 in another highly contested match. Kutlwano walked away P40,000 richer while BDF took home P30,000.
