Addressing a full council meeting, Mojuta said the exit rate in the district stood at 99 percent. At the end of October this year, 198 participants were placed in different departments within the district.

He said one other challenge is inadequate opportunities in the district. He noted that in order to ensure smooth administration of the cluster police volunteers allowances, the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture came to an agreement with Tirelo Sechaba (Botswana National Service programme) to convert cluster police volunteers into the programme. Mojuta said, however, that consultations on how best this could be done were  ongoing.

Meanwhile, the town experienced a diarrhoea outbreak in August this year and the District Health Management Team registered 133 cases. Mojuta said the outbreak was  properly managed and no death was recorded.

The mayor announced that the accreditation of Selebi-Phikwe Government Hospital was progressing and the last evaluation was done early this month where the facility scored 77 percent against the target of 80 percent.

Because of the centralised procurement system, there had been inadequate supply of food for schools from Food Resources Services. He said however that suggestions on how this challenge could be addressed had been discussed with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
