Forest is on top of the log with 25 points and went into the closely contested affair with clear intentions as they eyed promotion to the Premiership.

Forest did not waste time to launch attack on their opponents from the first whistle. But, instead it was Letlapeng who took the lead through a brilliant strike from Thabang Kgamanyane in the 12th minute.  The goal changed the complexion of the game as Forest fought to level matters and the equaliser came in the 17th minute through Maikano Maikano. The match’s tempo gained momentum as both sides sought the lead.

Forest took the lead through Tiro Pheresi’s goal in the 19th minute. Sadat Sinare’s attempt flew over the crossbar with the striker under pressure from the Letlapeng defence in the 24th minute. Letlapeng then drew level through Ofentse Ntwayakgosi’s goal in the 34th minute. The second half started with Forest all over Letlapeng and Maikano completed his brace in the 47th minute, a goal that proved to be the winner.

Letlapeng coach, Enos Mmesi felt that they gave the match away. He said his players had too much respect for Forest and that worked against them. “We could have done better, but unfortunately my defence was not stable. One of my central defenders is out due to suspension and I had to push back a midfielder,” he said.  Winning coach, Murphy Maseko said he was excited to have walked away with maximum points. He said the win meant a lot to him and his charges. He said finishing the first round without a loss was a motivation and an indication that they are doing something right. “The management was supportive and that made my job easy. I came into this match with a plan to attack and I knew that their defence was not the best and I used that to my advantage,” said an excited Maseko.
