Women�s Under-17 begin World Cup campaign

Mogapi told Mmegi Sport that a win would be vital before travelling for the second leg.
“These are young players. A win will give us much needed confidence. We do not know much about the Namibian team and as such we would not have enough time to study them. We will be going for the kill on the day. We also want to have more of the ball because they cannot hurt without the ball,” he said.
There are two injuries in the camp, however they have been boosted by the arrival of players who were still caught up by school commitments.
“One of players will miss the game as the doctors advised us to rest her, while we are still assessing the other.
Players who missed the start of our training camp are here and we have worked on their fitness. I think they are where we want them to be now,” he said.
The team has played three friendly matches during their three-week training camp. They won 7-1 against Happy Hearts’ Under-13 men’s team and lost by the same margin to Happy Hearts’ Under-15 men’s team. They then lost 3-1 to Prisons women’s team. Mogapi said he is not concerned about his defence as he believes the games have prepared them for the encounter.
“It always gives you hope when you lose to a stronger team by a smaller margin so we have seen our mistakes at the back. We have been working on them I think we will be ready on the day,” he said.
The winner of the encounter will face Nigeria in the first round. While South Africa or Zambia awaits in the final round for a place in the 5th edition of the cup which will take place in September next year in Jordan. Only three countries will represent Africa.
