The DC on Tuesday ruled that FC Satmos forfeit three points and two goals to Green Lovers for using Takunda who they ruled was improperly registered.

They have also been fined P1, 000 for each of two other counts in which they used the player against Police XI and Mochudi Centre Chiefs. They lost 1-0 in each of the two games. Against Green Lovers, Satmos had walloped the new Premier League entrants 3-0. The DC had recently found FC Satmos guilty but held onto the sentence awaiting the Selebi-Phikwe side to mitigate, which they did last week. Satmos have however vowed to appeal the sentence with the Botswana Football Association (BFA) DC after being given 10 working days to do so. They have also been given 30 days to pay the fines for other counts of misconduct.

“We shall exercise our right to appeal because we still believe the way we understand the Play Rules and Regulations is not how they have been interpreted. They are saying we are aware that the electronic registration is in use but it is nowhere to be found in the Play Rules and Regulations,” the club chairperson, Monnakgotla Mojaki said yesterday.

Mojaki said they will go ahead with the appeal despite the fact that time is not on their side. “We will just do it because we want the Play Rules and Regulations to be interpreted well. We know that even if we win this case at the next level, it would not make so much difference because the player has missed almost the whole of the first round,” he said.

Satmos are left with four games before the festive season break where they will have an opportunity to register the player in January before the league resumes.

The BPL DC’s decision has now seen Satmos drop to the bottom of the log with a meagre three points. Motlakase Power Dynamos are the beneficiaries as they exchange positions with the Selebi-Phikwe side and now move to position 15 on five points. Green Lovers have 18 points and move to position nine from position 11. The Serowe side takes on Township Rollers this Saturday.
