Weighing 93kg, Sechele had tough competition as he battled it out with athletes who have won prestigious titles in various divisions and countries. The six contestants: Ndumiso Dlodlo, Tapiwa Chihota, Sechele, Blessing Samaringa, Sugar Sugar and Steven Obotseng were all aiming for the big title.

They all went on the stage to showcase their bodies and skills to a panel of judges that looked at various elements such as body flexing, general body build and showing-off of muscles in various angles and motions.

The athletes had hard dry ripped muscles of different levels on the respective displays.

Dlodlo, a South African bodybuilder, appeared the favourite to win the title, but many were shocked when Sechele snatched it. With huge muscles from head to toe, Sechele accepted his cheque of P10,000 which was the first prize money.

In the audience, a number of spectators were not pleased by the decision taken by the judges. Prior to the Mr Botswana there were other entertaining bodybuilding divisional contests. Young Phemelo Mooketsi won the Mr Junior Botswana contest.

There was the women’s bikini category where a number of women participated including TV personality Kefilwe Reetsang. The main focus on this division was on well trimmed and toned bodies, and Mitchelle Ajida won the contest.

Regina Jonga, who was the only athlete in the women’s bodybuilding category, won automatically. Gift Sunday walked away as Botswana’s strongest man.
