Not even the pouring rain could dampen the spirits of those who flocked Botswanacraft as they waited eagerly for the lady of the night.  Despite the weather, the event was almost a full house, something that surprised the guest who remarked once on stage that, “I thought like seven people will come, thank you for the support.” It was Joss Stone’s first performance in Botswana.

The neo soul singer, who is currently on a world tour, has vowed to perform in every country.

Her next performance will be in Zambia. Joss Stone, whose birth name is Joscelyn Eve Stoker, sampled some of the hit songs from her debut album The Soul Session. The Grammy award winner has sold over 14 million copies from her albums. While receiving cheers throughout her performance, it was however her single featuring American artist Common dubbed Tell Me What We’re Gonna Do Now that proved to be the crowd’s favourite.The 28-year-old also dished out her award winning tracks including Love, Love Me as well as Tell Me Bout It. Setting the pace before Joss Stone was The Contrabanditz. The band, however, received very little attention from the crowd.

South African singer Zahara, who is famous for her debut album with the hit song Loliwe, will close off this year’s Mascom Live Sessions on December 18. ite in the crowd and the fans were shouting his name after performing his hit Candy. The most decorated local female rapper, Sasa Klaas was also fans favourite and revellers were paying much attention to her stage performance. She performed her latest hit Mma Mongwato to the delight of the audience.

 

The lineup was endless and Botswana’s most successful rapper, Zeus came on stage to perform his songs like Tlhokofatsa and Gigima. The Channel O award winning rapper’s performance proved that indeed he is one of the best rappers around.

The performance night couldn’t conclude without Mosako, and he was also at his best. The rapper performed some of his previous hits like Onkentsang.

The most amazing performance from an upcoming artist came from an ensemble of rappers called Kgatleng Cru. Their collaboration on stage was amazing and each verse showed that they could deliver their best. The lineup of DJs was also on point during performance intervals and they had the crowd on their feet the whole night.
