The Miss Heritage World was held in Sandton, South Africa on November 14 where the beauties from 54 nations spent three weeks in preparation and related assignments. She paraded her 1.74m grandeur in a journey accompanied by her manager, Bakang Keimetswe and the co-director of Miss Heritage Botswana, Khumo Leburu.

She told The Monitor that the love she has for cultural heritage and the desire to inspire other young people, motivated her to join Miss Heritage. Ntsima said apart from the competition, she learnt a lot as contestants exchanged experiences on life and culture from their countries. She was invited by the Croatian embassy in Pretoria where she provoked the diplomats’ interest to visit Botswana soon. Her presentation that impressed the judges most was a poem and a traditional dance she offered while adorned in traditional leather attire, provoking ululations from fellow Africans in the competition.

Since she was crowned Miss Heritage in October 2015, she has embarked on a project to encourage the youth to appreciate Setswana cultural heritage. These projects include Motswasele Secondary School and Kweneng International Secondary School exchanges on traditional dance as a way of promoting culture and sharing ideas.

“My next big project entails a multi-faceted programme to promote Botswana, making Batswana aware of the existing rich cultural tourism and heritage sites that Botswana has,” she said. “A part of this programme is a project called Diamond Tour.” The diamond tour project will be launched by her promoters from Miss Heritage Botswana. It entails a diamond shaped tour starting in the south of Botswana to the northern cultural and natural heritage sites.

Although she did not make it to the best three, Ntsima considers being on Miss Heritage World’s top six as a great achievement, considering the number of contestants in the pageant.

Ntsima had no official sponsor but help came from her family, other people and organisations. The Miss Heritage World organisers provided the contestants with accommodation and transport while local designer, Kesaobaka Kaygear designed her coronation dress. Another designer, Candida designed her evening gown and the African Print dress.

Brand Botswana provided her with a gift package that she shared with fellow contestants and ambassadors from different countries. The 25-year-old Ntsima hails from Bokaa ward in Molepolole.

She said she was thankful to all people who supported her. She also said she hoped to make an impact in promoting Botswana’s heritage, culture and tourism.
