The club walked away with three gold medals with a technical knock out (TKO) through Kagiso Bagwasi walloping Atang Mosenko of Prisons club.

The other boxers who walked away with gold medals from DTCB were Kabelo Bagwasi, Kutlwano Ogaketse and Thabang Motsewabeng.

In the 60kg category, Kabelo Bagwasi showed his techniques and skill to beat Kagiso Ntoti of EMG club 3-0. The two boxers started the bout with slow punches showing respect to each other. Ntoti, who was fighting from the red corner, missed with an upper cut as the fight started to heat up. Bagwasi punished him with a cross left after losing concentration. The second round was faster as the boxers were now pushing for a win. Bagwasi showed that he wanted more from the bout and did not show pressure. Ntoti tried to floor Bagwasi with an upper cut but missed. Bagwasi threw a straight blow on the face to send Ntoti flying into the ropes.

Bagwasi told Monitor Sport the first and second rounds went according to his plan, but struggled in the third and final round.

“The third round was difficult because I had muscle pulls on my legs,” he said. “That made my match difficult. Despite that I defended the title that I won last year.” An explosive match was between Lentswe Zwinila of Glen Valley club against Kooagile Rantutu of SSKB in the 69kg category. Zwinila started the match on a high note with brilliant uppercuts. Rantutu was able to get into the match a few minutes later, throwing a jab that pushed Zwinila backwards. The stout boxer did not take that laying down as he came back with an upper cut to end the first round. Zwinila continued dominating the bout and ended winning it through a spilt decision 2-1.  Meanwhile, in the women’s bout, between Koketso Dipogiso of Kgalagadi north boxing club and Keitumetse Maleta of SSKB in 51kg, it was interesting to witness the hunger between the two. The two women showed determination and gave their best.

Dipogiso was launching attacks, but Maleta had her guard up. Dipogiso hammered Maleta with a left jab forcing the referee to interfere and protect the boxer. The match ended with Dipogiso hitting Maleta with a straight right and took her out of the game. She won the match with a knock out.
