The Institute of Health Sciences (HIS) in Molepolole will be the battle ground where on Saturday Kutlwano will want to end the season in style while the following day, the men’s title will be decided.

In the women’s league, the rivalry between Kutlwano women’s team and Mafolofolo continues. It is at the same venue where Mafolofolo beat Kutlwano to win the Capital Motors tournament last month. The ‘Big House’ is expected to go all out for revenge. As their coach Isaac Samuel puts it, “We are going out to revenge for our loss during the Capital Motors final. We are not taking anything for granted. We just have to remain focused,” he said.

Samuel told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the aim is to win all the remaining league matches. Kutlwano have taken an unassailable lead and will want to end the season in style. Kutlwano’s first match is against Dynamites before they proceed to face off against Mafolofolo on Sunday.

He said his side has had a good run this season and also injected new blood to the line-up.

He gave an example of Caroline Rodgers, a setter who has been the heart of the team’s play, featuring in all matches. Samuel said the plan going forward is to increase the pool of players. He said the squad that he has got, fatigued as the season continued. He said that affected performance and he was unable to make changes.

“We played each opponent four times and that drained players. We need a larger pool to sustain good results,” Samuel said.

He said since the departure of Tracy Chaba to play professional volleyball in Abu Dhabi, Thapelo Kamberuka has been doing a good job in that department. Other players that are expected to do the job for Kutlwano this weekend are Karabo Molefha and Tebogo Sejewe.

It will not be a walk in the park for Kutlwano as Mafolofolo also boast of national team stars Game Rakgabo, Lizzy Gasekgonwe, Tsholofelo Retshabile, Chada Majaha as well as setters Kelebogile Mahupela and Priscilla Nthaga who will be complemented by Taboka Tema and Tsholofelo Oganne.

For her part, Mafolofolo attacker, Lizzy Gasekgonwe said they have the same mentality that Kutlwano have. She said they want to prove to everybody that their win in the Capital Motors final was not a fluke. She said though they are out of the league race, they just want to punish Kutlwano.

“We want to end the league in style and we will be waiting for Kutlwano again in the upcoming volleyball tournament,” said Gasekgonwe.
