The programmes are Africa Empire Warrior, Africa awards and a song contest. Speaking to journalists from across the continent, ASVG chief executive officer (CEO), Leslie Koroma said Africa Empire Warrior is a flagship sports entertainment show whose first season will be hosted in Liberia in early 2022. “The shows format is a test of strength, agility, power, endurance and ultimate fitness, will pit four contestants per African country in a series of obstacles against contestants from all 54 African nations in the 12 stage competition,” he said. Koroma also said the contest will have each stage represent 12 ancient African empires and what it took for an individual to qualify to be a Warrior.

He said some of the empires to be featured are Benin empire, Ghana empire, Malian empire, Songhai empire and Carthaginian empire. “The rest of the empire would be revealed in due course as the preparation towards the production of the television show progresses,” Koroma said. According to the head of production, Tiah Knox based in New Jersey USA, the show will showcase the past glory of Africa and help people develop a new perspective of Africa and its rich history. “Contestants would be vying for cash prizes along with other goodies provided by our sponsors. The show which is a three months long annual series would shown through local broadcast partners as well as on streaming platforms that would be revealed before registration for auditions in March,” Knox said. She further said auditions will be held in every capital city across Africa.

Meanwhile, the search for African theme song gets underway in February. The contest would gives musicians in Africa and the wider Diaspora an opportunity to showcase their talent and create a uniquely African theme song. “A combination of experienced and up coming artists are what we are looking for.

An individual who can sing a beautiful and stirring song for Africa and about Africa. The song should capture the beauty of Africa and Africans, the culture of African, the resilience of African as well as the continent’s history,” said Ntebogang Sebetlela, ASVG media and liaison manager. Sebetlela said the top five finalists selected would earn the chance of a lifetime to perform live at the worldwide virtual audience at the 2021 Africa sports awards. Some of the key stakeholders which were part of the press conference included the Ministry of Culture of Liberia, ASVG partners , the Canadian digital music company HITLAB that would power the sound track of the show and Slovenian based Sky Scou, which would provide its Al Operated cameras for the production.
