Artists ditch Ga bo Rangolo music concert

The show will be held at Tapela farms in Tonota on December 26. The organisers of the show have been accused of using big names to push tickets sales. Zeus, Ricky Lamar and Franix are some of the artists who are reported to have complained about the existence of their names in the line-up without their consent.
Local professional rapper, Zeus, on Sunday went on Twitter to disassociate himself from the annual show. “Please note that Zeus is not booked for any event in Botswana on the 26th of December, any advertising..#CantTellMeNoth @ZeusGC,” read the Twitter statement.
The show that recently re-branded from Ga bo Tate to Ga bo Rangolo is a brainchild of one local musician Dithuso Selepeng also known as DT in the music circles.
Speaking to Showbiz yesterday, DT said it was all just a misunderstanding and unprofessional conduct from some the of the artists management.
DT dismissed reports that Zeus was not booked for the show. “That is not true, I spoke to Zeus’s management yesterday and we can confirm that he will perform at the show,” he said. “We booked the artists 11 months ago. So, some of them are bound to forget,” he said. DT however said the organisers have solved the issue with Franix and he has been brought back on the line-up. “We spoke with him and he has agreed to sign a contract with us,” he said.
He also told Showbiz that the issue with Ricky Lamar has also been solved. “At the end of the day we have a good relationship with these artists and they will come to order,” he said. DT indicated that contracts have been signed and they are good to go.
Another rapper Dramaboi was also alleged to have distanced himself from the show, but his manager, Gomolemo Pilane, said otherwise. “Dramaboi will perform at the Ra bo Rangolo festival next month. He has always been scheduled to perform,” she said. When quizzed about the re-branding of the show, DT said the main reason was to create hype. “The name Ga bo Tate has been used over and over so we wanted to come up with something original like Ga bo Rangolo,” he highlighted. DT said the name Rangolo is used to address a grandfather.
DT recently welcomed Kast of Fill-Up-The -Stadium fame and the controversial Berry Heart on the line-up. The full line-up include, THABO, Eskimos, Dramaboi, JuJu Boy, BK Proctor, Latimmy, ATI, Eugene Jackson, MMP family, Scar, EPIC, Buckshot, Mapetla, Lizibo, Letso, Cici, DJ Oats, DJ Gouvea, Chrispin the Drummer, DJ Collastraw, Ricky Lamar and many others.
