The company will host its fifth tournament at the Civic Centre Hall featuring the main bout between Botswana’s Patrick Seoko and South African opponent, Morapedi Khotle.

“Since we started this professional boxing in Botswana, I have never had a single boxer failing medicals. This is commendable because it goes to show that my boxers are taking very good care of themselves,” he said. Ngubula said most of the boxers have already done their medicals with only two expected to have done so by the end of today. He said the boxers as per the requirement these days are expected to do an HIV test and the delays were caused by some issues with the testing equipment at the government clinics which had nothing to do with the boxers or the event. He however expressed optimism that by the end of today, they would have completed everything and wait for the big event.

The South African team is expected to jet into the country today with the weigh-ins scheduled for tomorrow at the Bond Boxing Promotion Gym at Notwane Club.

“We have managed to secure the venue. Almost everything is done and the boxers are also just waiting for the day to arrive. They have been training very hard and look like they are in good shape.

They are experienced now unlike the first time when we hosted these events,” he said. The event will also see local celebrities do a curtain raiser and showcase their boxing skills in what is termed white-collar boxing. They include among others radio personality, Robin Chivase and musician, Kealeboga Leruele of Wizards of the Desert. The personalities have been doing boxing workouts to keep fit.
