Zebras game grosses P1 million

The match was watched by a record 26,662 fans and the Zebras responded with a clinical 2-1 win over their bogey side. The Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego said although he did not have exact figures, the amount was close to P1million.
The Zebras have proved to be a reliable cash cow in the last three games after a frustrating period of poor attendances. But since the move to the Francistown Sports Complex, the Zebras have seen BFA realise around P2.5million from the turnstiles in just three matches.
The BFA has made it clear it would let the Zebras continue in Francistown after low attendances in the south.
A move to the newly built Francistown Sports Complex has proved to be the right tonic the national team needed.
They beat Burkina Faso 1-0 in the opening game watched by over 25,000 fans before accounting for Eritrea 3-1 a fortnight ago.
They then completed a hat trick of wins with the most impressive result on Saturday, beating giants Mali 2-1. This is the first victory in four attempts.
Their next home game is against Comoros in March.
