Multimedia, which has become a trending way of communication across the world with the combination of text, audio, still images, animation and video has made the youth to take advantage of government funds.

According to the Monarch Ink’s spokesperson, Oagile Robert Golebeletswe, the business started in April this year with an initiative to bridge the gap that exists in having less multimedia companies in the second city.

He said that the foundation of having a multimedia company was proposed by a group of five to the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) after struggling financially and they were boosted with P450,000 as a start up capital.

He revealed that they offer services such as production of TV adverts, short dramas, recording, company video profiles, websites, branding, videography and photography to only name but a few.

The 26-year-old disclosed that his business partners are Mooketsi Nkokobotjo, Oarabile Matapana, Dorcus Masilo, and Zazambi Tuelo.

He added that the youth grant came as a blessing as they did not study multimedia and with the passion and the niche in the market it will lead to their success.

“For instance I pursued Bachelors Degree in International Business at Limkokwing Botswana, Nkokobotjo studied Telecommunication from Limkokwing University Malaysia, Tuelo holds Bachelors degree in Computer Science from NITT currently running as Botho University and Masilo did her Diploma in accountancy at Ba Isago University,” he said.

“We offer unique services such as having our own professional recording studio and broadening up the scoop of multimedia by being involved in producing short dramas,” he said.  He disclosed that they are going to take advantage of digital migration system of Botswana Television (Btv), which is an opportunity to produce more vibrant adverts and programmes from the city.

Nonetheless, he said that Monarch Ink has its  own challenges, as there are competitors like Garero Multimedia and other photography companies in the location. “But we are different as we offer the best and we produce quality products as we are well equipped than our competitors,” he said.

He announced that their studio has already signed up a lot of local artists and are delighted by their services, adding that they are engaged in a short story drama called Painvaile and a new Francistown documentary.

He urged the youth to take advantage of the government schemes before things change so that they can develop innovative and creative business ideas.

He pleaded with the MYSC to continue offering support by letting youths venture in businesses they are passionate about than directing them to choose something different. He stressed the issue of rental expenses as he labeled it costly for a new company and people taking advantage of it, as there is no law regulation it, which could let to failure of some funded individuals.
