Satmos to appeal Takunda ruling

The DC, however, did not deliver the sentence and gave FC Satmos two days (Wednesday and Thursday) to mitigate before they can sentence them. The club chairperson, Monnakgotla Mojaki said Satmos will definitely appeal since they believe they can never get a fair ruling from the BPL DC. He said it is their view that the DC does not make independent decisions and will take the matter further. Regarding the mitigation, Mojaki said they will consult their lawyer and map the way forward. “The judgement came at a time when we thought the arguments on the merits of the case were going to continue. We came prepared specifically for that because the last time the case was heard, the prosecutor was supposed to provide some documents in the next meeting, which was last Tuesday,” he said.
Takunda, who helped Satmos retain their Premier League status when he almost single handedly thrashed Notwane in the relegation play-off, now faces more time on the sidelines. Mojaki said their argument remains that they have not done anything wrong.
“They based their judgement on the fact that we renewed licences of other players and not Takunda. However, we did not renew those players’ licences. What we did was submit medical reports of those players and in turn we received their new licences, which was a luxury. And you have to understand that it is not mandatory to provide medical reports of players to the league or association,” he said. The striker’s absence has left a void upfront for Satmos who have been struggling since the beginning of the season. They have only managed to collect six points from 13 games.
