“The group decided to perform up north for the first time since its formation due to the high demand for our music,” the group’s brand manager, Harry Koata said.

The launch will also feature performances by Smarh, and DJ Scan.

Koata also explained that the group has other performances lined-up for the northern part of the country during the festive season. Areas to be covered include, Francistown, Sebina, Maitengwe, Masunga and Mapoka.

“This initiative will be in collaboration with the IkaJazz maestro, Ndingo Johwa,” Koata added.

Reharko Polka Group consists of 16 dancers of different ages. The dancers come from different parts of the Kgalagadi district, which include Werda, Houmoed, Kokotsha, Vaalhoek, Bokspits, Tsabong, Lekgwabe and Struizendam.

The group released its debut album titled Die Antwoord, which means 'The Answer' in English in 2014. The album scooped The Best Folklore/Polka Album in the 2014 Botswana Musician Union (BOMU) awards. The group continued the spirit by collaborating with the same stakeholders in a project aimed at raising funds for people with vision impairment in Kopong. The fundraiser was held at Tlotlo Conference Centre in August 2014.
