The director of the institution, Dominique Raguin said the School of Tennis introduced 70 children from Our Lady of the Desert and Maradu primary schools to tennis through various games and activities from morning till noon.

He said the programme is aimed at keeping the children busy during the weekend in order to prevent them from engaging in risky activities.

He added the programme is open to all government school pupils aged six to nine years.

Raguin indicated that offering free tennis lessons to the youngsters is a way of giving back to the community, as some of the pupils cannot afford to fend for themselves.

He also mentioned that he is thrilled by the response of the community, as they are very supportive of the programme as it creates a healthy and constructive activity outside the school premises.

He disclosed that about 20 parents attended the sessions and watched their children participate in the diverse activities of tennis sessions.

He revealed the parents expressed gratitude for the programme saying it will create a meaningful atmosphere for children to be engaged in such activities during the weekends.
