No free admission for children at Zebras game

BFA chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng told a press conference here yesterday that children, unlike in the past, would be expected to pay.
“All the seats will be sold. We will have everyone who comes to the stadium buy tickets. We understand that children are the future of this country and we don’t want to stop them from coming to the games.
“We have in the past experienced a challenge with children coming to matches.
We recognise the fact that children will occupy sits, which should be occupied by paying adults. We also have a problem with getting exact figures of people in attendance because we count with the tickets, so we want to be on top of that,” Kemoeng said.
He further expressed concern about the slow sales of tickets and people being cheated with fake ones. “We appeal to people to buy tickets from authentic designated outlets. Do not buy tickets on the streets.
“We urge people to buy tickets on time. Up to now only 5,569 tickets are sold. We are concerned the rest are being left for the last minute as we are sure they will be bought,” he said. Furthermore, he said they would not assume issues of pitch invasion are past.
“Mali is a big team and if we roll over Mali, and I believe we will, let us control our excitement,” Kemoeng said.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairperson, Eatlametse Olopeng bemoaned the slow ticket sales but assured that security arrangements are in place.
“We are ready for the game. The security will be in place from the Botswana Police Service.
We have beefed up with the Zebras supporters who have pledged assistance and the security company that will be engaged for this game,” he said.
“Our biggest concern is the ticket sales.
We should avoid situations we experienced in the past, where police are called to points of sales in the malls to control commotion because of last minute purchase of tickets,” Olopeng said.
He said gates would open at 10am to allow supporters in early. The game kicks off at 4pm.
