Bright died on Monday after losing his battle against the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19). Marman played under Bright at Mogoditshane Fighters as the team won a treble of titles between 1999 and 2001.  The team also won several cups.

“I know that many people will always remember him as a disciplinarian and someone who always wanted to win. Personally, I will always remember him for his ability to precisely predict a match before it was played.

Ahead of every match, he would look at us and immediately tell us if we are going to win, draw or lose the match.

He was never wrong with his predictions. I always found his ability to predict matches very fascinating,” Marman said.

He also shared insights into how Mogoditshane Fighters dominated local football while under the tutelage of Bright.

“Players wanted to die for him because of the affection he had for them. Bright would often visit our families and see how we lived. This somehow promoted a spirit of togetherness between him and the players. That is why the players always wanted to die for him on the pitch,” he said.

Marman added he was not surprised that a majority of players who worked with Bright for a significant number of years became successful in their lives beyond football.

“Bright instilled a spirit of discipline and hard work amongst his players.

Football was not fairly rewarding during our time, but we excelled in other areas in life because of the mentorship we received from him. He always wanted us to be focused in life,” Marman said.
