The conference is scheduled for June 14-16, 2016 and will be held under the theme, ‘Health care training and education: A key to innovative workforce’.
Last Friday IHS held a fundraising dinner for this upcoming event at Tati River Lodge and raised P52,600.
The dinner was held under the theme, ‘Multi-sectoral collaboration in health research and training: A key to sustainable public health’.
Giving updates of the upcoming HTI research conference the chairperson of the national organising committee, Nelson Baane, said it is through research that the Ministry of Health (MoH) will be able to transform the mind-set of its workforce and services.
“An innovative workforce is a driver to the transformation agenda. There is a need to embrace and promote a culture of research, which will eventually promote innovation and service delivery,” said Baane.
He said that the budget of the research conference is estimated at around P450,000 and is expected to bring together 250 delegates.
Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) Superintendent, Dr Malaki Tshipayagae, said the event will undoubtedly help in the quest to revive the fortunes and the image of the city.
Tshipayagae said research in the world is the main catalyst to the evolution and the development of any nation, which permeates and radiates through all the spheres of life be it socio-economic or political.
He said any nation’s social policies, economic policies and the political climate should be informed by the research.
He stated that the training of relevant health personnel should be guided by the research findings.
“It is through research that we also help in ensuring that as a society we become proactive in terms of handling some health challenges and catastrophies. This shows that we live in a world that is guided and informed by research,” said Tshipayagae.
