The Metrophones do it the theatrical way

The youthful band, which was formed four years ago graced the stage with their soulful sounds and delivered an engaging two-hour performance. With a great atmosphere to make a perfect setting, the eight-piece band delivered a magical combination of theatre and music to the audience.
Though they did not boast of a satisfying turn up, the Metrophones created an intimate night of jazz and soul for those who were there. With the new wave of interest for the younger crowd, the Metrophones also appealed to their audience with their eye-catching outfits. The band that performs mostly at corporate events proved that they could push beyond the boundaries of musical performances.
In an interview after the show, the Metrophones representative, Akhutleleng Mogami, told Showbiz they outdid themselves with the epic performance. “Like we promised, we did it the theatrical way. Everything from our attire, we performed like never before,” she said. Mogami said they never do choreography, but Saturday night was an exception.
Mogami said as a growing youthful band, they managed to achieve their goal with the show. She said the turn up was not bad and it was not what they expected looking at the fact that the weekend had other crowd pulling shows. Going forward, Mogami said they intend to perform songs of their own. “Tonight we performed a song of our own entitled Toodoo,” she said. The performance director, Gaosi Raditholo, said the performance was phenomenal because the performers were electrifying on stage. She said the concept of the show was focused more on the performance element.
“We wanted it to be more louder and we were able to achieve that,” she said. Raditholo said one of the key aspects of the project was to get everyone out of their shell. “We wanted the performers to be very confident on stage and that went very well,” she said. Raditholo said she was working with the Metrophones for the first time and it was great.
