A brace from Bonang Otlhagile ensured that Double Action move to the summit of the log with 18 points from seven games while Kicks drop to seventh position with seven points.
Double Action coach, Agreement Podi said his game plan on the day worked but was not happy with the team failing to convert the many chances that came their way.
“We had to guard against complacency. These underperforming teams are the most dangerous. I’m not happy with our finishing, we should have scored many goals. This is something that we will work on during the week,” he said.
Podi further said being on top is a motivation to his team as they will have to maintain the spot until the end of the season.
“We have been here before, it was just last season when we did not perform that well. We are a big team, we know what it takes to be here. We are not under pressure rather this is motivation for us,” he said.
Kicks coach, Alex Malete told Mmegi Sport that a poor start to the game contributed to the loss.
“We did not start the game well. We gave away an early goal in the second minute and we had to change our style of play so that we could get a goal. They got us on the break and got the second goal,” he said.
Malete, however, revealed they are not putting themselves under pressure and are aiming for a top four finish. “Defensively we have one of the best (defence) in the league. We are improving as a team. We are not under pressure. We have players who are Under-15. We are building to compete not for a season, but seasons to come,” he said.
In other games, defending champions, Township Rollers showed their intentions with a 3-0 win over Meat Girls. Rollers are level with the log leaders, but second due to an inferior goal difference.
Newly promoted Makufa SC and South East Girls United played to a 1-1 draw, while Kanye Swallows beat Big Sisters 1-0. On Sunday, Gaborone United beat fellow strugglers Untouchable 2-0 while Prisons thrashed FC Legends 5-0.
