The Miss Africa Botswana grand finale was hosted at Ditshupo Hall on Saturday.  Mookodi walked away with a whooping P100,000, her first princess Modioki Gaborone won P 50,000, while the second princess Uua Murangi received P 25,000.

The pageant was a tough duel for all the contestants including the queen and her runner ups.  All the young women were on their A game, as they showcased different cat-walking skills, which was one of the main focus for the night.

On the ramp they donned collections from fashion designers, Gofa Sithole and Boitumelo Seboko.  The moment of truth came when the judges, Boingotlo Motlalekgosi, Lawrence Okeditse, Milly Rutang and Lipuo Tale, from Lesotho had to select the top five from the 15 contestants.

Prior to announcing the top five, chief judge, Motlalekgosi noted that the judging process was not only based on the night’s performances, but through the build up journey to the finale, which included bootcamp sessions and projects. The top five consisted of Murangi, Tseo Seitiso, Phatsimo Boagi, Mookodi and Gaborone.  The top five contestants were asked questions by the judges.  The questions were mainly based on current affairs, with an emphasis on the African continent.  After the question and answer sessions Mookodi was announced as the queen, and given her diamond crown as tears of joy rolled down her cheeks.

Mookodi will represent the country during the Miss Africa grand finale next year, which will be held on a date yet to be announced.

Yarona FM host, Dollar Mac, and Btv breakfast show host, Pauline Kgwarapi, were the presenters at the event.

Charma Gal, La Timmy, BK Proctor, The Soil and Yvonne Chaka Chaka provided entertainment.
