Last Gasp Satmos Goal Denies Motlakase

The poorly attended encounter started with both teams hurrying playing, but with poor passes.  Satmos’ first meaningful attack came in the fifth-minute when Lesego Moiphemedi’s shot hit the woodwork.

After the scare Motlakase took control and duly went ahead in the 11th-minute when Boipelo Waitse connected with Uyapo Tibathue’s cross from the right flank.

Chouka continued to apply the pressure and were nearly rewarded in the 25th-minute, but Umar Ngobi’s powerful drive ricocheted off the upright.  Motlakase were dominant, but lacked precision in the first stanza.  After the recess, Motlakase continued controlling the tempo, but failing to convert.

The Cheetahs had their moment when a well worked cross from the left flank fell on Kagiso Tutuwe in the 16 yard, but his header went inches wide. Satmos strikers had a bad day in office as Chouka’s back four continually repelled their attacks.

As the Cheetahs chased the game, they threw in Tshephang Manabala for Nno Sebolaanoga  in the 85th-minute as Manabala was to grab the equaliser two minutes later.

The striker outpaced two defenders and beat the advancing goalkeeper to slot into an empty net. Motlakase’s assistant coach, Pule Mogotsi was not pleased with his charges at full time.  “This was supposed to be our victory, but we lacked the final decision. We were too wasteful in the box.

We have time to recover, but if we fail to collect obvious points then we will have a problem,” he said. His counterpart Satmos assistant coach, Kgosietsile Jacob was happy with the draw.

“We lacked purpose in the first half and we didn’t come to party.  Our strikers were too hurried and we brought in a calm guy and it worked for us.

We will take a draw. We are not playing our best football because of many injuries to our key players, but we will recover,” he said.
